Tip: Try the 4 Bone for a taste of a little bit of everything.
Gates BBQ is another Kansas City BBQ staple, known for their “struttin’ man” and prompt “Hi! How may I help you?” greeting. Like Arthur Bryant’s, it may not be the best in KC, but you have to stop in to say you’ve been.
#95 – Arthur Bryant’s

Good for: Original Kansas City BBQ
Tip: Head to the original location near the American Jazz Museum and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
Arthur Bryant’s is a traditional Kansas City BBQ joint known for their vinegar-based sauces and open-face burnt end sandwich. One of Kansas City’s longer running BBQ spots, a version of the restaurant has been feeding the metro since 1908.
#94 – Milwaukee Delicatessen

Cuisine: Milwaukee-style German cuisine.
Good for: Great food in a relaxed, historic setting.
Tip: Ask for the mustard on the side – it’s hot.
The Milwaukee Delicatessen is great spot to grab drinks and delicious food in downtown Kansas City. Near the Downtown Public Library, the Milwaukee Delicatessen has roots in the area since 1900.
#93 – Independence Square

Good for: Finding everything you need in a 6-block radius.
Tip: Don’t skip ice cream at Clinton’s.
The Independence Square feels as though you’re stepping into the county-seat of a small town. In the center of the Square is the courthouse, which is surrounded on four sides with shops, restaurants and bars. The Square pays a lot of homage to President Harry Truman, who grew up in Independence and worked on the Square.

Good for: Seeing a different view of Kansas City.
Tip: Book your float in advance, they can fill up fast.
Kayaking the Missouri River is a humbling and rewarding experience. The massive river is a bit intimidating at first, but in the midst of its muddy waters, it is calm and serene.
